Uri takes up new post
Uri Smilansky will be teaching notation at the prestigious Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel (Switzerland) from autumn 2023. Many congratulations, Uri!
MALMECC follow-up grant for Karl
Karl Kügle was awarded an ERC Proof-of-Concept grant allowing him to investigate the sounds of early Valois France (ca. 1350-1400) through digital auralizations of virtually reconstructed courtly spaces. The VALSOUNDS project will be implemented by Katholieke Universiteit Leuven's Faculty of Engineering in close collaboration with partners Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, Maze Pictures Berlin, and various heritage sites in France from 1 August 2023 onward.

Project extended in response to Covid-19: MALMECC project to continue to December 31 2022.
The MALMECC project team, like everyone else, was impacted significantly by Covid-19. Taking account of these unexpected difficulties, the project has been granted a Covid-19 extension by the Horizon 2020 programme and will now run to the end of December 2022.
New path for Grantley
Grantley McDonald moved back to Austria and left the MALMECC project, effective 20 September 2021. We thank Grantley for his many contributions to the project and wish him all the very best in his future endeavours.
Project extended: MALMECC project to continue to end 2021.
The MALMECC project expanded its scope with the arrival of the three new post-docs in the autumn of 2019. This will enable the project to cover extra topics and add to its publications list. As a result, the project has been granted an extension by the Horizon 2020 programme and will run for an additional year to the end of 2021.
Prague workshop to be substituted by essay volume
The Prague event will be substituted by an essay volume entitled The Luxembourgs in Europe. It is being curated by Karl Kügle, Ingrid Ciulisová and Václav Žůrek and is expected to appear in 2023.
Prague and Meissen workshops cancelled
Due to Covid-19, the Prague and Meissen workshops scheduled for 2020 will have to be cancelled.

Twelve speakers confirmed for Prague Workshop
The Prague workshop on 26 and 27 March 2020 is shaping up well. Twelve international experts have confirmed that they will be speaking across a range of themes. Each presentation will offer time for questions and discussion, so this is a great opportunity to meet and explore the relationships between cultural topics of the era.
Announcing project workshops 2020
The MALMECC project is arranging two workshops in 2020, following its highly successful conference on the 26th and 27th September 2019. The first is in Prague on 26 and 27 March 2020. The second is on 3-4 April 2020 in Meissen.
